It was during the 1970s that CESUB began undertaking some of its most significant projects. These included the construction of the ITALSIDER (ILVA) offshore structures in the Port of Taranto, on behalf of FINCOSIT S.p.A. of Genoa; the construction of the Multi-Purpose Pier in the Port of Taranto, in collaboration with SPARACO SPARTACO S.p.A. of Rome; and, subsequently, the construction of the “San Nicolicchio” Dock, commissioned directly by MANTELLI S.p.A. of Genoa.

It was through its collaboration with MANTELLI S.p.A. that CESUB undertook the conservation and refurbishment of the entire oil terminal jetty belonging to the oil company IP S.p.A. (now ENI S.p.A.), serving the Taranto Oil Refinery. During the 1980s and 1990s, CESUB also carried out maintenance works on the submarine pipeline connecting the Taranto refinery to the CBM (Single Point Mooring buoy field), initially in collaboration with CIMIMONTUBI S.p.A. of Milan and subsequently with BONATTI S.p.A. of Parma.

Over the years, CESUB went on to work for major companies and industrial groups including PIRELLI CAVI S.p.A. (now PRYSMIAN CAVI E SISTEMI ITALIA S.r.l.), ENEL S.p.A., BELLELI S.p.A., SOCIETÀ ITALIANA DRAGAGGI S.p.A., ASTALDI S.p.A., ITINERA S.p.A. (Gavio Group), PIACENTINI COSTRUZIONI S.p.A., and many others.

In 1985, Cesario Liberato donated the “Christ of the Sea” (Cristo del Mare) to the city of Taranto, in memory of the military and civilian victims of the sea. For the Cesario family, as well as for the people of Taranto, this gift has always represented a prayer and a heartfelt plea for protection for those who, captivated by the sea, venture into its magnificent marine ecosystem.
