Environmental assessment

Since 2004, CE.SUB. S.r.l. has been engaged in environmental monitoring of the marine environment, providing continuous assessment of aquatic ecosystems and water bodies.

Environmental monitoring is a complex process that enables the detailed classification and assessment of water bodies within the coastal marine environment. This allows their actual environmental status to be evaluated and, where necessary, supports the planning and implementation of remediation measures aimed at achieving and maintaining established environmental quality objectives.

The environmental monitoring process is organized into several stages:

This phase is intended to document the original environmental conditions and characteristics of the area under investigation prior to the operation of the proposed infrastructure, with particular attention to the geological, lithological, and geotechnical conditions of the soil in which the survey is carried out.

This phase therefore makes it possible to establish the baseline conditions of the environmental indicators against which the results of subsequent monitoring activities can be compared. It also provides a reference framework for evaluating the findings of subsequent investigations and, where necessary, implementing appropriate corrective measures during the course of the project.

This phase is aimed at documenting any changes to the baseline environmental conditions resulting from the implementation and construction activities of the project. At the same time, it ensures that targeted mitigation measures are implemented whenever critical conditions arise, in full compliance with the applicable environmental regulations and legislation.

During this phase, the documentation collected is reviewed by a dedicated team and presented in a standardized format; making the results readily comparable with the regulatory parameters applicable to the various environmental components subject to monitoring. This includes Atmospheric Conditions, Noise and Acoustics, and the Aquatic Environment in all its specific aspects, such as physicochemical analyses, multiparameter probe measurements, turbidity measurements, current-meter surveys, wavelength measurements, and marine environmental monitoring.

At every stage, Environmental Monitoring is aimed at collecting all relevant biological, physical, chemical, and hydromorphological data required to determine the ecological status of the environment.

These monitoring activities ultimately provide up-to-date information on the current composition and condition of the existing marine ecosystem. Over the years, CE.SUB. S.r.l. has developed extensive professional expertise in this field, supported by its highly qualified technical staff and high-quality scientific monitoring equipment.
